The Beat Generation |
experimented with drugs and alternate forms of sexuality. Their work was the focus of the obscenity trials that ultimately helped to liberalize what could be published in the United States. The concept of this project was developed based on the idea of the Beats being censored by society. This idea is shown through the posters that show a black bar that covers the mouth. The boldly saturated colors aim to grab the viewers attention, just as the Beats tried to do with their art in the 50’s. The posters highlight the contrast between being censored and being loud, with vibrant colors and intimate portraits. |
